S2 E.2 Find Your Joy in 2021 with Empowerment Coach Stephanie Virchaux

In this Episode

In this episode, Adriana and Mariah sit down with Energy Healer and Joy Coach, Steph Virchaux. We dive deep into intention setting and finding joy in 2021 after a difficult 2020.

First, let’s get to know Steph and how she got here. She worked in marketing for 12 years – in the last 2 years of her job, she felt as if she was suffocating. At the same time, Steph was discovering the art of energy healing and joy coaching, and felt an immediate connection to it. After going through coaching herself, it allowed her to realize that she had been ignoring everything that brought her joy. This ultimately led Steph to quit her corporate job and work towards pursuing a career in this area. Currently, she is the founder of SV Collective, and helps people to rediscover their own joy.

Yes, we know that fully quitting your job to follow your passion is not always realistic for everyone. Many of us tend to have an “all or nothing” mentality, but it doesn’t have to be that way! Steph notes that rediscovering your joy can be done in small steps. In her case, she had to accept that she would sometimes have to work odd jobs in order to build up to her desired path. You can absolutely still work your job and incorporate hobbies that bring you joy – for example, if you find joy in piano lessons, schedule time for that after your workday. All of these little things truly add up and guide you in the direction of becoming your best self.

Adriana asks Steph a question that lots of us wonder: how do you know if your energy needs to be readjusted? Steph notes that it can be hard to figure out what feels “off,” but your shoulders may feel heavy and you just feel stuck. This is a time where we can check in on ourselves. Steph provides an insightful tactic to help us all slow down and rechannel. When we take a shower, we are cleansing our physical bodies, but we are also cleansing our energetic bodies. Set an intention in this moment and imagine the water slowly cleansing away your negative energy. Although this sounds simple, it works!

Many times, we are focused on constantly evolving and getting things done at all times. Steph explains that all of these tactics are “condiments” to life – at the end of the day, YOU are the vessel. Everything else revolves around the vessel. Whenever you are feeling stuck, ask yourself “what feels fun to me?” If crystals or practicing meditation feel fun to you, do that! Remember: none of these things are a must – do what feels right and good to you.

Steph talks about a personal experience that led her to discover the depth of her qualities. In October 2019, she was 6 months pregnant. Unfortunately, her daughter is not physically here with us, but we honor her every day. For the first month after losing her baby, Steph stopped everything – this allowed her to sit with all of the emotions that came with this circumstance. Ironically, her parents were in town when it happened, and they asked her how they could best support her. Her response to her parents was that she was hungry, and they went out to a restaurant right after.

Most times, the paradigm we see in movies is that a woman never bounces back from this grief. However, Steph stresses that you DO find joy again. And, this joy is not always a long time after you face a hardship. You can find joy in the midst of grief. She explains that one morning, she was struggling, and later that afternoon, she went to a coffee shop, enjoyed her favorite cookie, and felt joy. Accepting that very different emotions can coexist is a really important facet to overcoming difficulty.

Adriana, Mariah, and Steph touch on the relationship between energy healing and religion. All of them grew up Catholic, and in this day in age, there are many different (and new!) beliefs. Some people do not believe in this area of the universe, and that is OKAY. Belief comes with experience. If one path is working for you, stay in that lane! At the end of the day, we are all people: do you and be you.

As we wrap up this episode, Steph coaches Mariah on the journey of love – in order to find a partner, you have to fall in love with yourself first. She teaches Mariah (and all of us!) an exercise to let go. Write down all of the times in your life that trust was broken. Allow yourself to feel the pain associated with those situations, and when you feel ready, release them. We also touch on the practice of meditation. Bring those people who hurt you to God, or whatever you may believe in, and bless them. The way you feel about yourself is such a prominent component on this journey – it shifts your mindset from “when will they mess up?” to a space of hopefulness and positivity.

Our last topic in today’s episode is goal setting. Goal setting can be challenging. Steph suggests asking yourself how you want to feel this year, and come up with a word that is relevant in all aspects. Set intentions around that word – this will allow yourself to feel centered and aligned. You got this!

We hope you enjoyed today’s episode as much as we did. Steph’s energy truly radiates and we absolutely love her positivity. Keep glowing, and we’ll catch you next week!
