S2 E.1 Life Update: Pregnancy, Quarantine, and Dating

…Adriana is PREGNANT!!!! If you have been following along, you know that this was her ultimate goal, and here we are! Now, she paints the picture of the day that she found out the transfer was successful.
Adriana, Bill, and Mariah went on a short getaway to the Jersey Shore. Simultaneously, they were expecting a call about the transfer. After what felt like forever, the nurse called and broke the news. Adriana mentally blacks out in shock! Just as this was unfolding, Mariah stepped out of the house to go get breakfast – and then she got a text from Bill: “We got the call. Come back.”
Mariah then takes over and tells this story from her point of view. It was pouring rain, and after seeing the text, she drops everything and is sprinting back. When she got back, Adriana was still on the phone, visibly crying. It was hard to tell the result at first, but Adriana nodded her head YES! Mariah says that it was one of the greatest moments of her entire life – talk about true friendship! The sun came out later that day, and they celebrated this milestone by the beach.
Adriana talks about her first trimester. She is currently 23 weeks and due in April! The icing on the cake? It’s going to be an Aries baby boy! For the first 6-7 weeks, she recalls how nauseous she was. Yes, it is called morning sickness, but it was all day sickness in her case. Everything became difficult – especially work. Adriana says that she felt a sense of guilt and questioned why she wanted this for so long. Once the sickness really kicked in, it was hard to remember the day she had found out. Mariah reminds her that she was essentially forced out of a deep depression to this pure happiness and relief, and that we need to give ourselves grace during these quick emotional shifts.
Once the gender reveal came around, Adriana returned to that euphoric feeling. She says that feeling sick was a true psychological burden and affected her quality of life. Now that it has simmered down, she is in true work mode – more than ever!
Adriana and Mariah discuss maternity leave. Of course, there is always some apprehension surrounding this. During Adriana’s journey, the team had to find ways to offer support and step up to the plate in the office. That being said, they are both confident that they have hired the right talents to support Little Words Project. And, who are we kidding?! The baby will be at the office all the time :)
Mariah also gives us an update on her dating life. No boyfriend yet, BUT her ex is back in her phone sending fire emojis…and he has a girlfriend. Never a dull moment! She notes that being single was harder than ever during quarantine because we had so much time to sit with our emotions, and we all craved some sort of human connection. All in all, dating in your 20s is hard. Like really hard.
It is also the start of a new year! We are using this time as a fresh start: a moment to reflect and grow. After all that has happened in 2020, let yourself feel things and use them to your advantage. Remind yourself how strong you are and remember that your best is always enough. Our goals for this year are the 3 B’s: business for both, baby for Adriana, and boyfriend for Mariah!
