S4 E.14 The Journey
In this EpisodeWelcome back, girlies! We’ve missed you! We’re so happy to be back even though our podcast room looks like a literal broom closet, and our heads are just spinning. But anyways, let’s jump right into it.
We started by giving a brief recap of the Vanderpump rules drama, since the finale is being recorded literally as we speak. Adriana has been falling down subReddit rabbit holes all about the scandals, looking at the horrible things people are saying, and it’s bringing her back to her college days when people would say mean things about her on anonymous chat boards. People can be so cruel, but word to the wise – don’t fall down the same rabbit holes as Adriana’s falling down! These boards and threads can become so toxic and all consuming, and it can really bring a person down.
This led us into the deeper conversation of people who have too much time on their hands to write on these boards, and led us to ponder their motives. Why must people say such horrible things?! It doesn’t make any sense, but it’s just the age of the internet – hiding behind screens saying cruel things because people feel that it’s okay that way, apparently. Mariah isn’t someone who can harbor mean energy, but Adriana is a masochist in that way – she feels like she has to know what people are saying. Maybe that’s because she experienced so much bullying, but it’s not healthy. That’s why she likes reality shows like Vanderpump Rules, because it’s better to distract the mind than to fall down these rabbit holes. Anyways, enough on that!
In terms of dating updates, Mariah recently went on two amazing first dates with two really cute guys. She’s still talking to one of them, and kind of to the other one, but he’s not putting in as much effort, so it may be time to say goodbye to him. In other dating news, we completely forgot to update you on literally the biggest and best story of all time… Mariah met Michael B. Jordan!
Anyone who knows Mariah knows that MBJ is, like, her ultimate dream man. He is IT for her, you don’t understand. Anyways, it all started when Mariah went to a WNBA game that had a lounge created by Jay-Z. Anyone who sits courtside at the game is able to go up to this lounge at half-time and after the game, and it just so happened that at this game, Selena Gomez and Michael B. Jordan were in attendance. Mariah, being who she is, made it her personal mission to get bracelets onto Selena’s wrist, come hell or high water. She was even willing to forgo meeting MBJ for this… that’s how big of a deal it was. So, Mariah finds herself in this VIP lounge, waiting for Selena (and let’s be real, MBJ) to appear so she can get the bracelets to her. While she’s looking for them, the CEO and CFO of Steve Madden come up to her to start a conversation. They recognized the bracelets because they were with someone from EY, and as we all know, Adriana won the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award this past year. Frazzled, Mariah ended up having a conversation with them, making them laugh (of course), and then randomly walking away still in search of Selena and Michael.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t in the cards for Mariah that night, as she missed both Selena and Michael. She was, however, able to get bracelets onto H.E.R.’s wrist (she literally waited outside the bathroom stall for her), and she LOVED them. But the story doesn’t end there!
Fast forward to the next day, Michael B. Jordan is still in town, and Mariah’s friend Tony, (he’s a real one – especially after this story) knowing that Mariah is a huge MBJ fan, sends her an invite to an event where MBJ is. The event started at 7pm… he sent the invite at 7pm… and Mariah was out to dinner with a friend and no service. The whole time, Tony is texting her and calling her trying to get in touch because he knows how much she loves Michael B. Jordan.
She finished dinner and didn’t end up making it to the event, but she still knew that MBJ co-owns her favorite bar in the city, and she had a feeling that he’d be there. Then, Tony confirmed it – he was at the bar. So, Mariah rallied. She showed up to the bar with her friend, there were 8 people upstairs, and Tony wanted to introduce Mariah to MBJ so badly, but MBJ was talking to another random girl. Finally (FINALLY), Mariah and MBJ made eye contact, and he kept looking back at her as he was talking to this other girl. A little bit of time passes, and Michael is about to leave – Mariah knew, this was her moment. She had seconds to make a connection. The moment comes – Mariah and MBJ meet face to face, and… they kiss. No, we’re kidding. What actually happened was Mariah froze. She made the most random conversation with the man, but he grabbed her hands in his and said to her, “You are absolutely beautiful.” We. Are. Melting.
All in all, we must continue to live in delusion. MBJ will absolutely remember the interaction he had with Mariah, and they will meet again, and probably fall in love. Phew, what a story.
